Overview

Ross Solar was founded by the Ross family in 2007 to provide solar installation and consulting services to home owners, businesses and municipalities in the Northeast. Now, as a ConEdison Solutions company, Ross Solar is able to leverage its understanding of solar with the experience, stability and integrity of one of America's largest energy companies.

Licensed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York City as well as Westchester, Putnam and Rockland Counties in New York State, since its founding Ross Solar has installed more than fourteen thousand kilowatts of solar for businesses and homeowners.

 

We are continually looking for Installers to assist in the installation of residential and commercial PV systems. In this position, the Installer (1,2,3) will provide support to the Crew Lead of the installation team, communicate job status data to the Operations Management, and ensure the completion of installation of all solar arrays/systems. It is the responsibility of every Installer to ensure safe work practices for the installation team.



Responsibilities

The Installer II is responsible for assisting peers and superiors with layout and installation of solar array systems from plan. He/she must maintain a clean and secure job site at all times which includes activities such as; grounds keeping, debris removal, hauling and hoisting materials when needed, panel washing and oversight of contractors as required. Must process the ability to use hand and power tools a positive image of the company both internally and externally.

 

The Installer III is responsible for leading/coordinating all efforts associated with the layout and installation of solar array systems from plan. This includes coordination and oversight of the team composed of installers, electrician, and subcontractor, to ensure the job meets the company’s quality and safety standards. He/she must be able, and willing, to work side by side with the team to complete projects/jobs on time and on budget as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required

 

Installer I
• Minimum 1 year of roof work, general construction, or carpentry strongly preferred
• Basic hand tools including but not limited to ( electric impact drill, rotary drill w/ 2 batteries, 25’ tape measure, utility knife, hammer, tool belt, complete socket set, flat bar, flat and Philips screw driver
• Must be able to lift 50lbs
• Ability to work in extreme environments (example hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.)
• Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, work on rooftops and able to work on your feet for long periods of time
• Basic computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required
• Strong customer service skills required
• Regular, reliable and predictable attendance required
• Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
• Must have a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record (for example, no DUI in last 5 years)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen

 

Installer II
• 2 years of experience as a solar installer or equivalent
• OSHA 10 certified
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic rigging and signaling certification
• Scaffolding competent certification
• Forklift driving experience
• Good understanding of means and methods
• Demonstrate ability to learn
• Pushing/pulling/lifting tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Walking/climbing/standing extensively during the work day
• Knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools
• Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work within tight deadlines
• Ability to multi task
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Installer III
• 3+ years of experience as a solar installer or equivalent
• NAPCEB certification or approved to sit for exam, or possess electrical license
• OSHA 10, or higher, certified
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic rigging and signaling certification
• Scaffolding competent certification
• Forklift driving experience
• Able to take leadership role with supervision of two to four installers
• Ability to read blueprints/building plans
• Good understanding of means and methods
• Strategic thinker with the ability to see the whole job/project from beginning to end
• Demonstrate ability to learn
• Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
• Ability to work within tight deadlines
• Ability to multi task
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
