  • Overview

    The Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (“CEB”) are wholly owned subsidiaries of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (“CEI”). The CEBs develop, own and operate renewable energy projects and provide energy services to wholesale, commercial and government customers throughout the United States.

     

    The Programmer Analyst will be responsible for the technical support of vendor packages and in-house developed applications for the Finance and Accounting organization.  This will include troubleshooting issues, performing upgrades, maintaining application integration components, developing custom reports and tools and database administration.  Additional responsibility for ancillary systems as needed. 

     

    The Programmer Analyst will also be responsible for coding, testing, supporting and documenting new computer programs, including mobile solutions.  This individual will be involved in all aspects of the product development life cycle including gathering user requirements, designing the application, developing and programming the code, end-to-end testing and documentation.  This includes taking a leadership role in the software development life cycle to ensure project tasks are completed.  The Programmer Analyst must have the ability to perform support and development tasks independently and /or with minimum guidance.

    Responsibilities

    Core Responsibilities:

     

    1. Participates in all activities for implementing and rollout of new applications or system upgrades for the user community.  This includes the coordination with application vendors and/or third-party contractors.
    2. Support existing in-house and vendor applications, including troubleshooting and resolving production problems. Involved in support and maintenance of third-party applications.
    3. Involved in testing activities, which includes creating a test plan with test cases/scenarios, executing and running the test cases, documenting and submitting problems to implementation team for correction.
    4. Facilitate requirements gathering by meeting with users and writing functional requirement and design documents that includes details of the user’s needs
    5. Develop functional scope and specifications for new systems and for significant enhancement of existing systems.
    6. Draft test plans and performs unit, integration and system testing and coordination of user acceptance testing.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent required.

                     

    Experience:

    • Must have a minimum 2 years experience in software development life cycle or equivalent.
    • Ability to learn new technologies as required for the job using documentation and other available sources
    • Ability to handle multiple assignments with changing priorities while meeting deadlines
    • Must be flexible to work off hours as required to install product upgrades, support production problems and other corporate emergencies.

    Skills:

     

    Technical Skills PREFERRED

    • Programming Languages: .Net Framework (including VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET), Java, C/C++, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, HTML
    • Operating Systems: All windows platforms, Linux
    • Middleware: Tibco Businessworks, Microsoft BizTalk, JMS, Enterprise Java Beans, WebServices, SOAP
    • Software: PeopleSoft 9.2, Deltek Vision 7.2, Allegro 8, Microsoft Office Suite, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Source Safe
    • Database: Microsoft SQLServer 2005 or later, Oracle 9i or later, MySQL, PostgreSQL
