    The SCADA Engineer will primarily be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe and efficient operation of utility scale solar and wind facilities and other renewable technologies owned by the Company by maintaining plant SCADA, DAS and communications systems.


    • Maintain plant SCADA, DAS and communications systems, ensuring that the power plants continue to operate reliably, safely, and efficiently.
    • Contribute to the expansion and maintenance of the business by providing expertise to the development, construction, and operations of CED’s renewable facilities.
    • Review facility operating data and resolve problems that are affecting facility output.
    • Track causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Assist Asset Managers, Operators, and Electricians in resolving technical issues with facilities.
    • Write procedures and establish plans to facilitate rapid identification and remediation of SCADA, networking, cyber security and communications problems.
    • Maintain knowledge of renewable technologies commercially available particularly SCADA systems, PLCs, networking technologies and communications equipment.
    • Establish working knowledge of various equipment suppliers’ technologies.
    • Prepare procedures, maintenance plans, log entries, and reports to management; manage administrative tasks
    • Assess and validate operational data to enhance facility performance. Work independently to create an effective predictive and planned maintenance program to ensure facilities operate reliably.  Apply technology enhancements to optimize facility output.
    • Works with personnel at  the NERC-registered facilities, the regulatory group, engineers, asset managers and others to ensure NERC/ISO compliance is effectively implemented 
    • Performs technical audits and gap analysis to verify that processes, internal procedures, and policies are compliant
    • Creates and ensures  consistency across our NERC-registered facilities (equipment/software, alarming, controls, voltage monitoring, PI, SCADA, modeling, etc)
    • Perform site visits as necessary to achieve company objectives for all of the above.
    • Reviews and validates engineering studies, field analysis, compliance testing, performance and relay tests to ensure compliance
    • Keeps informed of technical developments, industry codes, and regulatory requirements which have an engineering impact



    • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or well documented relevant work in field service engineering related to plant control systems and networks.



    • 5+ years engineering experience in energy-related technologies and applications required
    • 5+ years’ experience with the one or more of the following SCADA & DAS systems: Emerson Ovation; Wonderware; Factory Talk; Honeywell; SEL RTAC; Campbell Scientific; etc.
    • Working knowledge of industry protocols: DNP3; Modbus; OPC; etc.
    • Proficiency with widely used SCADA system programming and implementation.
    • Experience in using programming and scripting languages such as Python scripting.
    • Power distribution systems experience required
    • Specific experience in the design, evaluation and operation of large scale PV solar technologies strongly preferred
    • Experience in the overall aspects of design engineering, construction, start-up/commissioning, and subsequent O&M of distributed energy projects
    • Prior work experience in a solar power generating environment is preferred 
    • Production data evaluation and implementation of corrective actions
    • Working knowledge of electricity and hazards posed by electrical equipment and conductors is required
    • Working knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies and ability to establish maintenance programs
    • Field operating experience desired

    • Can express complex technical concepts and evidence effectively and simply, both verbally and in writing
    • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills, and the ability to work with little supervision
    • Work well with people from varying disciplines and with varying degrees of technical experience
    • Experience using Microsoft Office suite of products
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to work long hours or under adverse conditions
    • Ability to travel


    Familiarity with the following topics is a plus:

    • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
    • Experience with Protection System Compliance and Relay Testing
    • Practice achieving and maintaining regulatory compliance with NERC “693” or “CIP” standards
    • Experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements
    • Knowledge of plant monitoring equipment and control systems and devices
    • Power System Protection and Coordination
