The Con Edison Clean Energy Businesses (“CEB”) are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Consolidated Edison, Inc. (“CEI”).   The CEBs develop, own and operate renewable energy projects and provide energy services to wholesale, commercial and government customers throughout the United States.  The CEB’s have annual revenues of approximately $700 million and total assets of nearly $3 billion.


The Manager, Tax supports tax planning, compliance and accounting for the CEBs.  Tax compliance includes federal and state income tax, gross receipts tax, sales and use tax and other miscellaneous types of tax.  Tax accounting covers monthly closing and reporting as well as support for parent company SEC filings. 


The Manager, Tax works closely with Con Edison’s Corporate tax department, Finance and Accounting, Business Development, Information Technology, tax auditors, outside tax consultants and CPA firms as required.


  1. Support non-income tax compliance: gross receipts tax, sales and use tax and other miscellaneous types of tax
  2. Review and provide guidance on corporate and lower-tier partnership Federal and state income tax returns
  3. Responsible for the tax provision and monthly closing, including reconciliation of income tax provisions to filed tax returns, and deferred and accrued income taxes 
  4. Provide responses and act as liaison with tax auditors, consultants, and Con Edison’s Corporate tax department, as required
  5. Assist efforts to upgrade and improve processes within the tax function, including system implementations and enhancements and process improvements
  6. Perform various ad hoc analyses/reports/planning/staff development



  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance is required.
  • MST/MBA/CPA desirable but not required.



  • Ten to Fifteen (10-15) years of tax compliance and accounting experience, specifically filing of federal, state, sales or gross receipts tax returns, preparation of tax provisions, return to provision accounting and preparation of tax- basis balance sheets.
  • Energy or utility tax experience, preferred



  • Able to produce accurate and detailed work under pressure and on time
  • Requires good communications skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work and promote a team-oriented atmosphere
  • Must be able to present information verbally and in written form in a clear and precise manner
  • Knowledgeable in the area of book-to-tax differences and filing of corporate and partnership income tax returns
  • Knowledgeable in the area of sales tax and gross receipts taxes
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft system a plus.
  • Knowledge of OneSource Income Tax or similar tax compliance system preferred
  • Knowledge of Power Tax provision system preferred
  • Strong reconciliation and problem solving skills
