  • Overview

    This position supports the successful development and delivery of the Con Edison Battery Storage business plan. Key responsibilities include developing a strategy for and executing on the pipeline of third party developers, providing leadership for opportunities through their project development, leading development of third party financing offers and bringing commercial options to our customers to increase uptake in energy storage, providing high level, visible representation of Con Edison Battery Storage group with key stakeholders and government regulators, elevating recognition in energy storage market and serving as the subject matter expert.  Responsibilities also include providing competitive / market input to support product development and sourcing.

    Responsibilities

    • Executed on the current pipeline of opportunities and lead the development of proposals for customers positioning Con Edison Battery Storage for success and understanding customer needs.
    • Building on that pipeline through supporting customers as they develop projects.
    • Understanding drivers for project economics and using that understanding to drive energy storage opportunities.
    • Development of a strategic plan for engaging and securing large, complex energy storage projects. This plan will include likely developers to work with, deep knowledge of large energy project development and third party owned and financed solutions. 
    • Leading the development and deployment of innovative third party ownership models.
    • Lead relationships with strategic financial / market partners.
    • Raising awareness in national markets through the participation in industry events, public policy activities and local engagements. This includes taking leadership positions on industry boards and prominent speaking engagements.
    • Support channel partners as a subject matter expert to help them provide energy storage solutions to customers. Along with pure product knowledge, provide support on how to structure and sell financed offerings.
    • Develop models of customer value based upon load, utility rates, regulations and incentives to determine optimum storage system solution and best customer value proposition
    • Support development of strategic marketing plan including brand development, product launch and comprehensive communication and messaging.
    • Lead responses to significant customer Request for Proposals (RFP) leveraging the broad Con Edison business to support. Examples include regional utility related responses and large federal government procurements.
    • Develop a Market Shaping plan including engaging government regulators, financing entities, utilities to accelerate the uptake of the energy storage market

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in technical field with MBA preferred
    • 15 years of experience in energy storage, energy efficiency, clean-tech, utilities sector and/or related field
    • Proven performance with strategy, market development and/or business development with a focus on large project development in the renewables / energy market
    • Utility market project development experience including complex financial offers
    • Local market expertise and relationships
    • Experience with complex projects with customer facing elements
    • Solid communication / organizational skills and up to 40% travel
