    CES has a growing project pipeline and we are looking to add an essential member to the Tampa, Florida or Valhalla, NY teams. The Engineer (I) will produce basic designs of electrical systems associated with new buildings and renovations for consulting design projects, design build projects and performance contract projects. The designs will be produced for Power, Lighting, Fire Alarm and Lightning Protection systems utilizing current versions of AutoCAD software. The Engineer will use industry standard software such as SKM, AGI, Microsoft Excel and various manufacturer’s selection software programs to aid Senior Engineering staff in the development of electrical designs and energy calculations. The Engineer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to design and drafting, field investigations and construction site visits.  Additionally, the Engineer will contribute to the development of energy audit reports by assisting with calculations and combining write-ups, cost estimates and calculations (produced by others) into a standard audit report template.


    • Produce construction document grade drawings with limited direction and markups provided by senior design staff. Assist with and contribute to the design by laying out lighting and power system components. Produce details on the installation with limited direction from senior design staff.
    • Contribute to the design of projects by performing basic calculations for sizing power system components and circuiting, calculating foot candle light levels and selecting light fixtures for lighting system designs, laying out alarm devices for fire alarm designs, laying out terminals and cabling for lightning protection systems. Spread sheets and industry standard software shall be used for various calculations and system sizing.
    • Contribute to the development of energy audits by performing basic calculations of energy usage and savings for Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) using spreadsheets and industry standard software. Assembling reports by combining write-ups, cost estimates and calculations into the report template.
    • Perform site visits to verify and document existing conditions to produce as-built drawings for renovation projects. Perform site visits to assist in the documentation of existing equipment and conditions for the development of ECMs and audits.



    • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
    • Professional Engineer license a plus; Advancement is based on having a Professional Engineer license.


    • 3+ years experience with Power and Lighting System design and drafting is preferred
    • 3+ years or more of experience in Fire Alarm and Lightning Protection design and drafting is desirable.


    • Able to plan and manage the development of construction documents with limited direction from senior staff.
    • Basic understanding of Power systems and components.
    • Basic understanding of Lighting systems and components.
    • Basic understanding of NEC and building codes.
    • Excellent AutoCAD skills. Ability to setup and manager drawings, xreferences, blocks, etc.
    • Able to interact effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
    • Must have good analytical and computer skills and attention to detail.


    • Able to travel to project sites when necessary (less than 10% of time) in order to document existing conditions to produce as-built drawings or energy audits.
