    Con Edison Battery Storage continues to grow and is seeking to hire a Project Development Engineer who will serve as a key contributor to the Con Edison Battery Storage business development team and is responsible for the technical development of proposals, contributing engineering, process and financial benefit expertise during both preliminary and detailed development. A key component of this position is to lead the Con Edison Battery Storage team in creating a standard, repeatable and accurate process for pricing and technically developing projects. Additionally, the Project Development Engineer is expected to be customer facing and will support presentations with the channel sales teams and end customers to help successfully position storage in the market.


    • Provide technical sales support and customer engagement
    • Work closely with business development and channel sales teams to define and propose appropriate energy storage solutions for specific opportunities
    • Perform initial site assessments in support of developing the appropriate Con Edison Battery Storage solutions including:
      • Electrical bill analysis
      • Site assessment and storage viability
      • Site electrical one-line development
      • System sizing
      • Project cost/benefit analysis and initial cash pro-forma generation
      • Product and equipment selection
    • Drive the utility interconnection process
    • Provide guidance on technical trade-offs with consideration for economic impact, time to deploy, site-specific conditions, regulatory or jurisdictional compliance, etc.
    • Provide leadership on knowledge management, codes,specifications,certifications
    • Serve as a technical resource for channel sales partners in support of the development of energy storage projects
    • Perform lead designer and engineering duties (both DC and AC power) to determine detailed design elements
    • Determine and specify 208 and 480 volt electrical services, transformers, metering equipment, cable, conduit, switchboards, panel-boards, load centers and over-current protection type systems
    • Design for and communicate relevant local code including utility distribution requirements that are relevant to the project location
    • Work independently and effectively with project managers, clients, consulting engineers, design and technical personnel, as well as manufacturing partners to design cost effective solutions and coordinates activities with registered Electrical and Structural Engineer consultants
    • Communicate design concepts and lead meetings between clients, project engineers, code officials and third party consultants
    • Collaborate with the team Project Developers to determine cost estimation of designs
    • Manage design schedules and assist in the creation of accurate construction documents and initial submittal in preparation for hand-off to Con Edison Battery Storage Operations team
    • Work with Con Edison Battery Storage suppliers for understanding equipment specifications, performance expectations, warranties, pricing and delivery schedules

    • Bachelor degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred
    • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification or equivalent experience preferred
    • Function-specific licenses or certifications preferred (e.g. Professional Engineering - PE)



    • 2-5 years of experience in detailed design and implementation of battery or solar projects including interconnection experience
    • Demonstrated subject matter expert (SME) in battery systems or solar power
    • Fully competent in analysis and assessment of complete battery or solar systems
    • Proficient performing solar modeling preferred (i.e. PV Watts, PV Syst solar modeling software)
    • Has demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills and is comfortable client-facing whether with internal and external stakeholders
    • Possess strong analytical capabilities and ability to manage tasks associated with development of projects
    • Experience with complex projects with customer facing elements
    • Ability to work on a team and on multiple, concurrent projects
    • Demonstrated ability to drive results and focus on the customer and act ethically
    • Up to 25% travel required
